ROAD SPEED LIMITER

ROAD SPEED LIMITER

A Road speed limiter (RSL) means a device whose primary function is to control the fuel feed to the engine, in order to limit the vehicle speed to a preset value. This is mainly achieved through various methods, like solenoid valve based fuel control, control cable based accelerator pedal linkage control, electronic pedal voltage adjustments or direct ECM control. Thinture manufactures all mentioned models as the target market will have different  makes and models of vehicles. Apart from single speed control devices, we have developed dual and multiple speed limiters for some of the developed countries.

Dual Speed Limiters can automatically switch over to two different speeds. These two preset speeds can be set indvidually. We have dual speed versions for Electronic pedal interface & Valve based type. GPS based Multiple speed limiter can switch over the vehicle speed according to the real time speed limits prevailing in the area where vehicle is running.

SPEED LIMITER TYPES

RevitsOne / Thinture manufactures mainly two types of road speed limiting devices. Direct fuel control system uses a solenoid valve connected in-between the vehicle fuel line, ie. joining fuel filter and fuel pump through the system, in order to control the fuel flow, when vehicle speed exceeds the set limit.

The electronic pedal interface type device, other wise called as a drive-by-wire (DBW) system is a complete electronic device. The signal from the electronic accelerator pedal is read by the system and supplied back to the vehicle ECM, till vehicle speed exceeds the speed limit. The system will control & adjust the voltage level given into the vehicle ECM, in order to keep the vehicle speed under the set limit.

Single Speed Limiter

Speed limiter will have only one set speed. This

speed can be programmed using the device programmer

Automatic Dual Speed

Dual Speed limiter will have two set speeds. Mainly used in petroleum mining areas. An inbuilt sensor detects the vibration of the vehicle and switches over to secondary speed.

Automatic multiple Speed

Multiple Speed limiter is the latest of all available types. This can control the vehicle at various speed limits, as per the geo-location based speed limit areas created in it.

Speed of the vehicle can be controlled by adjusting the fuel flow towards the engine. This can be achieved through various techniques. The most effective and straight forward method is the accelerator control. It works exactly like the driver controls the speed. In new generation vehicles, the pedal position can be controlled by adjusting the voltage signals towards the ECM. Our system doing this type of control is termed as Electronic Pedal Interface. In old type vehicles, the stroke length of the cable/linkage needs to be controlled mechanically. A motorized/pneumatic system is used for that. Now a days, this type is rarely used.

The second method and most common is the valve system, which controls the fuel flow directly. A solenoid valve is fitted in between the fuel line from fuel filter towards the fuel pump to control the fuel flow when the speed exceeds a set limit.

SPEED RECORDER DEVICE

Speed recorder & limiter is an advanced form of normal speed limiter device. Apart from speed limiting function, this device can act as a data logger also. Our speed recorder, Speed-eye II can record highest speed value, real time for every 5 seconds and record for more than 3 days. This data can be retrieved any time using a simple USB flash disk. There is no need of any additional software to read the data. The system is helpful for police to identify the intentional tampering of speed limiter system as well as history of over-speed in case of an accident.

This system is currently required as per law, in Kenya and Nigeria. As an OE supply, our devices are used by GM East Africa for their production of IZUZU trucks. The System is approved by Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kenya, Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) & RURA, Rwanda.

Car speed recorder

" Speed has been identified as a key risk factor in road traffic injuries, influencing both the risk of a road traffic crash as well as the severity of the injuries that result from crashes. For instance, pedestrians have a 90% chance of survival if hit by a car travelling at a speed of 30km/h or below, but less than a 50% chance of surviving an impact of 45km/h or above "
